  3. Hi Tracy, I have been a fan for years and can't wait to learn some new tricks of the trade for designing. This is a great idea, please keep it going. I'm not the best friend cause I don't visit and comment a lot on the main chat page, but I love the concept of your blog. After the last couple of days of DUC confusion this blog is like of breath of fresh air. Dee aka Dolo5125

  7. THANK YOU!!!! This is amazing! I have been on DUC for a couple years(with a looong break due to taking care of a sick grandma). Now I'm back and loving more than ever. learned some "tricks" along the way, but NOTHING like this! Now I'm going to be even more adddicted as my husband and boys call it! Lol You have some of the very best designs I have ever seen!!Was going to request u, but figured u probably have 100 requests already! If u have room for another friend, stop by and check out my designs. Thanks again for this wonderful place to learn!! Jill AKA Closetrockstar :)

  8. LOL, my hubby knows about having a DUC-addicted wife! :D Sometimes I have to take breaks due to my health circumstances, but I always end up coming back and getting engrossed in it. I'm so glad this blog has opened up new possibilities for indulging your DUC addiction. ;)

Yes, I do get a lot of requests (one time I let it go too long and had 1600 requests and the page wouldn't open). I can't keep up with the friends I already have, sadly, so I rarely add more friends. But if we get to know each other enough, I make exceptions. Hope to talk with you again! :)

  9. Tracy, this is such a great idea and you've put in a lot of work to have it up. running and looking sooooo cool!! ...also user friendly!
I joined DUC 5 months ago, and love, love discovering little secrets and tricks on my own.... but while that is fun, sometimes you'll miss something important, or not realize there is a better (sometimes easier) way to do something.

Your blog has so wonderfully put it all together. Thanks so much - and I will help to spread the word :D!!

  26. what method do you use to create such perfect replicas of disney character - do you trace or do it freehand so to speak?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hi Tracy blondtornado1954 here! I see some girls would like to delete some of there creations & we know how annoying that can be to do that from our homepage. Well I found a the easiest soulution to that with this trick.
If you go into your closet and move say 6 items of DUC clothing or your own from your closet into your storage and then move the items you don`t want from your storage into your closet & then prceed to delete from there and it will confirm and go back to the closet and not the homepage and you can continue to delete from there instead of going back to your homepage and into your designs there.

  28. Hey,
Tried to do the stendil trick to make earings but failed to do so.
Problem I encountered, though I had the face traced by zooming in etc etc as per your guideline. Later when I went to FM to design the accessory and zoomed in, I don't see any space left for the face( meaning, the page margin gets extended when I keep the stencil) Where am I going wrong?
Please help me....Look foward for your reply.

  29. KUSHI-

This problem is addressed in my post about making backgrounds. Thank you so much for pointing out that it needs to be addressed in the stencil section as well! I have now updated it with that information. See the newly added note at the bottom of that post for your answer (the explanation is somewhat long, so that's why I'm not posting it here).

Thanks again, and good luck with using your stencil. Let me know how it goes!

its bellabibi1975 again. I was on chat today and noticed someone asked on how to make things transparents, but no one responded to her. Maybe you can explain on your blog how we can do that. I would also like to know how. Keep up the work, as you are an inspiration to all of us. :)

  31. bellabibi1975-

Hi again! I'd love to help, but I need some clarification first. Was she asking how to make the model transparent (where the clothes show up but not the model), or how to create sheer-like clothing? Just let me know, thanks!

    :) tmck18

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi Tracy,
not sure waht she meant, she just asked transparent, unfortunately I don't remember the girl :(. It could be sheer-like clothing because someone had commented about Karellas sexy see-through lingerie she had made. Im assuming that, but not sure. Sorry for the delay in responding. A friend of mine on DUC gave me your blog and I am so glad. I hope to be able to make beautiful bg and designs like I have seen of yours. Slowly learning how to do bg's!:) Just wanted to say thank you 4 helping people who want to become super good at Mo's. This is so helpful. I also want to ask if you could put a step by step guide on making animals like I have seen some talented divas have done with dogs and cats:) My name is kristie and DUC name is kristie4u Thanks so much for your wonderful tips!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Anonymous-

You're very welcome and I wish you great luck in increasing your BG skills! Backgrounds are so much fun to create once you get the hang of it.

As for a step-by-step guide for animals, I don't really know what else I could explain in that area? If it's a complex animal, you simply draw it first as a stencil and then fill it in with the appropriate details. I did say in my section on making backgrounds that the rose detail is the best one for making animals in most cases. Is there any specific part of making animals that gives you difficulty?

Thanks for stopping by and I'm so glad you've found the blog helpful!

Can you post a link to an example makeover of the type of "flowing gown" you are referring to? To make gowns that aren't a pre-set option in the fashionmaker, you just need to do bead layering or use roses (or other details of choice) and place them using the Internet Explorer Glitch Technique (all are explained in the blog). I think if you read the entire blog you will find all the info you need. But if I'm missing something, please send me an example of what you mean and I will answer you directly. Oh, and you can always layer the long flowing FM skirt behind one of the long FM dresses. Hope that helps. :)

    Anonymous:
You're welcome, I'm glad to help out by making this blog. I'm so happy it's helping you. As for tips to creating a winning makeover, I used to just say make everything you can in the FM instead of using DUC items, and try to be as detailed as possible, because it really helps make your design stand out among the rest; voters will usually recognize such hard work and award you with a vote. But in the last six months or so, voters have seemed to prefer the less intricate, simpler designs for some reason (not always, but it seems to be a trend). So just create what you love and hope that you make it there. There is satisfaction in doing well in challenges, but there's even greater joy in creating something you adore. The fun is in creating. But here's a few things to make your MO stand out: (1) Choose a background that contrasts with your garment color so it pops. (2) Usually dresses do better in challenges than pants or skirts. (3) Making jewelry or hair or a background item can draw the attention of the voters. Good luck! :)

  43. Hello Tracy,
Thaks for all your wonderful tips. I tried to do some simple BG and guess what it worked. Followed the steps given by you. I am going to try an intricate BG very shortly.
My q to you is,how to measure the visibility factor of BG? when I designed the BG everything looked like it was within the range but once the MO was done, few things were cut off(in the sense probably bg was too big for thr MO window)Where did I go wrong?
Another q is, how do you scale the BG details how big or small while placing the beads or any details for that matter, so that it is in proportion to the model when MO is done.( BG done zooming in makes everything look tiny later)
Thanks for your time in advance.

    KUSHI:

Congratulations on doing a BG! To answer your questions...

When you are viewing a finished MO full-size, the "window" is about 110% of how large the viewing window is in the current FM (in the dress view). So first do a makeover with a FM dress with a long hem and sleeves. Go into the makeover and trace the model and dress, and then the border of the MO. Now when you go into the FM to make a background, go to dress view and use the same dress as you did in the traced MO. Shrink your screen to 90%, and it should now be the same size as your background stencil! You can see where the REAL borders are. It makes it much easier to create BGs this way. I will try to put this up as an actual tip soon, but I hope this helps in the meantime.

As for scaling details, you can't really do so. If you need to use larger details than the ones that are available when you're zoomed in, you'll first need to be zoomed out, select lots of your details and place them somewhere in reach, then zoom in and move them where you need them. Does that make sense?

The eyelashes in my Valentine's Day MO were actually a store-bought item that sold out quickly. I have made my own eyelashes before though and they're fun to make! Just stencil the eyes REALLY good first so you position them correctly.

Thanks for the compliments! I didn't get the flower design anywhere, I made it up. I looked at pics of flowers on the internet as a guide when I drew my stencil first, but that's it.

I'll get a transparent clothing tutorial up soon. It's a very difficult one to describe.

    :) tmck18

    Robynn9436:

Tips on full skirts...well, I always make a stencil first, freehand. But you can always put on a DUC closet item with a full skirt and trace the shape of it so you get a feel for what it should look like in the FM. The dress view in the FM is 90% of the size of a finished makeover. Hope that helps!

    :) tmck18

As to your question go to the tool bar at the top and choose tools there should be a full screen.........f11 to choose if not crtl f11 will do the same thing and what is does is hide the tool bar and all tool bars at the top and the task bar at the bottom. If you need the tool bar all you need to do is mouse up and the tool bars will drop down. And you can leave it like that I do and I have gotten so used to it. But I have a 10.5 screen I need full screen in order to see anything. But the constant zoom in and out would be old really fast. I wish you were a 100% get well sweetie. Love Susan

    Hello tmck18,

I got to know about you thru a message from one of my DUC friend last week to support 'stop Plagarism' as someone had copied your design and made it to top50.

I have experienced in the past few of my designs copied from head to toe and I hate copying, even if I want to recreate a design I do it with original designer permission.

I did support the Campaign, but never got to know the outcome.

I thank you for all the tips. Love your blog.Lve all your designs, super creative!!

    KUSHI-

Thanks for supporting the protest! It actually wasn't spurred on by any one incident of copying though...many divas were just finally so fed up with copycats that they decided to start a protest. When they started spreading the word about it, many of them used me as an example of someone who has been victimized by copycats stealing my designs and entering them into challenges countless times. Somehow that led people to thinking the protest was all in response to someone recently doing this to me, which it was not. The protest was actually in behalf of everyone who has ever, or will ever, be victims of copycats. Once I found out about the protest (I wasn't one of the originators), I quickly signed up to support it. Thank you for being a fellow supporter! The protest brought the issue into the limelight and it was talked about for days on the chat page, which is very encouraging.
Thanks for stopping by and for the compliments on my designs! I'm so glad you enjoy the blog.

  57. Hello Tracy,

Thanks for your wonderful comments. Was surprised to see your comments the moment I logged in today:) I have left a note on your page.

I would love to spend more time designing but time crunch due to work schedule etc makes me wind up the design as quick as possible. I hope DUC introduces the pause and recreate action for designs, that will be a smart move.

Hope you are feeling better healthwise. Take care.

  58. first of all, this blog rocks!!!it is THE duc 'go to' guide, they should send you a check!!!!i always refer anyone with questions to your blog.you are very talented!!!that goes without saying, but it takes a special person to have the desire to help others excel as well.we are all greatful for your selflessness.i know you have had some issues with your health and i wish you the absolute quickest recovery!people care about you girl!!lynnie1

  59. KUSHI-

You are most welcome for the comments, they were very deserved. The time crunch you're often under doesn't show in your designs; you do a splendid job on them.

I do remember in the newsletter awhile ago that the new FM will have a save-in-progress sort of button so you can continue working on a design later. I'm excited for that. I wish I knew more about the coming FM...wondering how much I'll have to change this blog. LOL!

You have no idea how much your comment made me smile today. I've had an absolutely HORRIBLE day, and coming to the blog at the end of such a day and seeing the nice comment you wrote really made it end on a brighter note. Thank you so much for that...I needed it SO much!

And thank you for the get well wish too. I do have some chronic conditions that I'll have for the rest of my life, but I'm hoping my most recent condition (bulging disc and bone spurs) will be helped enough with physical therapy that they won't affect me for the rest of my life...at least not as much as my other conditions. Crossing my fingers!

  60. Hello Tracy, Hope you are feeling better.I read bulging disc on one of your comments. That must be very painful. Why did you get that condition? Is it not curable?
With so many health issues your designs are so meticulous and creative. Max Kudos to you!!
I tried doing some head gear and it came out well. Did the stencil method as per your tip. Thanks a ton for such wonderful tips. I will be trying to play with the eye lashes detail shortly and let you know if it comes out neat.
    Stay in touch.

    ReplyDelete
  61. KUSHI-

Yes, the bulging disc coupled with the bone spurs is very painful. I'm not sure what the cause is of a bulging disc, but the bone spurs is from arthritis apparently. The physical therapist thinks the main reason for my pain though is the bulging disc, so we are concentrating on that.

Thanks for the comment about my designs! Yes, I have more than my fair share of health issues, so that's why I don't design all the time. It comes often in spurts instead. Sometimes I don't design for weeks because of health, but if I'm having some really good days, you'll find me on the FM for hours at a time. LOL!

I'm so glad your head gear came out well! Let me know about the eyelashes. If you want to take a look at my FM-made ones, look at the makeover "Belle Means Beauty." It's here on the side of the blog in my Disney Makeovers collection. Just click on the pic and it will take you to the actual makeover on the DUC site and you can zoom in and see how I did the eyelashes. It can also be considered eyeliner too. Good luck!

  64. Hi Tracy!

First of all I really want to thank you for this amazing homepage you have created. It is absolutly awesome and I admire you
for your very big kindness. And thank you very much for answering my question at the DUC. I'll write for you here on your blog as you offered me to do.
I feel almost stupid, but I still have my problems. I do understand the minimize-thing, but when I've maded my stencil on the 90% screen, it doesn't fit the size in the fashionmaker. For example: I did a test, where I created a backgrond with only 4 flower-details in each corner. When I used it in the makeover my flowers were staggered from those corners where I placed them.
When you write: "Save the makeover and then view it in full view" I wonder where I can see my makeovers in full view, is it on "My Page" on the DUC and when I click on my makeover and it shows in a bigger size, where also comments and kudo's can be seen - is this the full view? Because it's there I minimized my screen to 90%.
In a way I do think your advice sounds very simple and that is why I feel a little foolish for asking.
I apologize if there is some misspellings and grammatical errors. As you might know, I'm a Danish girl and even though I'm in the mid-twenties and have finsihed my school, I just still trying to learn the English language. Anyway, I hope you understand.

Kind Regards from Mette alias DanishSmile (on the DUC)

  65. Mette (DanishSmile)-
First of all, thanks for coming and visiting the blog and for the wonderful compliments you gave me.

Second of all, there is no need to worry about your misspellings or grammatical errors. I'm very impressed with your English skills knowing that it is not your first language. And I'm very happy to "meet" another person from Denmark, as my heritage is mostly Danish and Norwegian. :)

Now most importantly, I want you to know there is no need to feel stupid! Everyone has difficulties figuring out how to accomplish something occasionally. I'm not quite sure what is causing the problem, but maybe together we can figure it out. Here's a few questions for starters that might have something to do with it...

    1. What are you using to create your stencil? Do you draw it on tracing paper or a clear plastic sheet? Maybe the accuracy in which you draw the stencil could be the problem.
    2. What kind of garment are you trying to create your background on? My directions are for the dress-view only.
    3. Have you perhaps hidden the toolbars in your browser? A lot of people did that when we were having problems with the wheel spin popping up all the time. Hiding the toolbars essentially changed the screen size so that the "close window" button was visible without minimizing the screen. If you did hide the toolbars, perhaps that is the problem and you'll want to make them visible now that the wheel spin problem is resolved.

If none of those things are the cause of the problem, I'm not sure what else it could be. I'll continue to ponder it and see what other ideas I come up with.

By the way, to answer your question of what I meant when I said to view the makeover in "full view," I did mean when you click on the makeover and it shows up in the larger size where you can kudo and comment on it.

I hope we can figure this out for you! The background stencil really does make creating backgrounds so much easier.

  66. Dear Tracy, thanks so much for all your tips. They have been so valuable and easy to follow. My question involves KUDOS. How many can you give out? Is there a time limit on how many? Anything you could possibly tell me and other new players on this subject would be greatly appreciated.Your gracious follower,Marymab

  67. Dear Tracy!

Oh, a thousand of thanks for your so quicky answer, it meant a lot to me. I'm very sorry for mig late answer but something happened so I could not find peace to enjoy any creation on DUC - my bigbrother was out for a car accident, which made me a little depressed even though nothing seriously happened to him. Thank God for that. Anyway this is the reason for my late answer.

I tried to follow your advices and I'm very happy and grateful for the time you spend on me. But I'm still having my troubles for making the background in correct size.
When I have view a makeover in full view and draw my stencil I use tracing papir or baking paper as I use in others context where I trace something.
And like you I always create my backgrounds on the dress garment.
For your last question I can say, that my toolbar was hidden, so I made it visible and now my background is more correct than before, but not correct enough. I tried to minimize my screen in differents sizes to see if that could be an solution, but no.

I'm so happy that you say, I don't have to feel foolish or stupid. I was a little embarrassed to ask you - but your so sweet and calming words did that now I'm happy that I did ask you. Bless you!

Thank you very much for helping me - I'm very pleased!

  68. Marymab-

Thanks for the compliments! :) Now about your question concerning kudos...I have no idea. DUC has changed it SO many times. But I came up with a way we could find out! Do you have a second account that you haven't been giving kudos with? What you could do is pick a DUC member who deserves a ton of kudos. Now start giving them six kudos on every makeover they have, starting at the most recent, and do that until you've run out of kudos to give. Now count up how many makeovers you gave kudos on, and multiply that by the number six. Now you'll know how many kudos you have to give! Then every day, go back to that second account and try to give kudos. Do this every day until you finally have kudos again to give, and then you'll know the time limit.

If you do this experiment, let me know how it goes!

    :)tmck18

    Mette (DanishSmile)-

You're welcome for getting back to you quickly. :)

I'm sorry to hear that your brother was in a car accident! I'm really happy that he is okay. I remember when my sister got hit by a drunk driver...it was so scary. She was okay for the most part, just some deep cuts, bruises, and whiplash, but I was shaken up for days. So I know what you went through and I'm happy he is okay.

Now as for your background stencil problem...I'm not sure what the cause is. So how about I teach you how I figured out how to make my stencil, and you can go through the steps and figure it out for your specific computer.

    1. Create a fashionmaker dress that you typically use for making backgrounds and save it.
    2. Do a makeover with the dress and save it.
    3. View the makeover in full-size and trace the model and dress as a stencil.
    4. Go back into the fashionmaker and choose the same dress.
    5. Now using your stencil, enlarge the screen until the dress in the fashionmaker matches the size of the one in your stencil. You'll do a lot of adjusting here until you perfectly match the sizes.
    6. Now make note of the percentage you enlarged the screen to. It will be somewhere over 100 %.
    7. Reset your screen to 100%. Now go back into the makeover you created previously with the fashionmaker dress.
    8. Remember the percentage you made note of in the fashionmaker? Say it was 110% for example. Subtract 100 from that number, and you're left with the number 10.
    9. Now that you are in the makeover, I want you to take that resulting number (10 in this case), and subtract that number from 100. In my example, you'd be left with 90. So 90% is what you would re-size the screen to in the makeover. Now the makeover is the perfect size for the dress and "room" in the fashionmaker!
    10. Discard your previous stencil, and make a new one in this size. Trace the body, dress and outline of the background, and now you have your background stencil!
    11. Somewhere on your stencil, make note of the percentages you calculated so if your stencil ever gets ripped or smudged, you can make a new one without having to calculate everything again. It's a good idea to write it down someplace else too in case you lose the stencil.

Does that make sense? I hope so. Let me know if I need to clarify anything for you. Also let me know how it goes!

  69. Dear Tracy!

I am so sorry to hear the thing about your sister. It must have been very, very hard going trough for the both of you, and the rest of your family too. I can't stand it when some people are driving around with alcohol in the blood, it is so disrespectful. I am really, really glad that she under the circumstances are feeling well even though I think it was some bad cuts she went through. My bigbrother is in a lots of pain, and that it's. I saw the car on the accident scene. At this time I had not seen my brother and didn't know how hurded he was. But I saw his car, it was completly crushed, so it was the worst thoughts that went through me also because the rescuers had to cut him out of the car. So I was so enormously relieved when I saw my brothers condition.

But now to the more happy part of this blog. It is with very high pleasure - dear Tracy - that I can notify you that I finaly got the correct sizes for creating backgronds, only thanks to you. I almost jumped up through my roof of joy when I maded an example-background and saw that the sizes was nothing else than perfect. Tracy, I don't know how to thank you. I am really glad for your very kindness help. I think that you are doing an amazing job to help othes like you just helped me. It is really great done and as I wrote in my first blog, I really admire your kindness.

Well, now I guess I will visit the DUC and create some backgrounds. Thank you so, so much! I'am really grateful for your friendly help.

And thank you for the condolences regarding my sister's car accident. It was many years ago, but I still remember how horrible it was. And again, I'm glad your brother is safe. I hope his pain decreases soon!

  77. Hi Tracy! Hope all is well with you! I'm Maria aka cav2006. I want to know if you can create a tip sheet for creating the swinging skirts, like the one on your red dress on the home page. I mean skirts that curl around.

Thanks Tracy for this amazing blog!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Annet Selles:

Hmmm...don't know why you aren't getting the correct box to pop up if you are using Internet Explorer. I tried and tried to recreate your experience myself, but no matter what I do, I don't get those results...I only get them when I use a different browser. Thus, I can't figure out how to help you if I can't recreate the problem. There is some good news though...I've heard through the grapevine (either through DUC's Facebook page or on the "diva digest" chat on DUC) that when the new Fashionmaker comes out, we won't have to use the Internet Explorer Glitch Technique to place details off the model. Hope that's true, especially for your sake! Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.
    :) tmck18

    Maria (cav2006):

You're very welcome for the blog. :)

As for your request about tips for creating swinging skirts, I don't know what I can tell you other than to draw a stencil of the dress first before creating it, just like you can do for hats and other things. Then just "fill in" your stencil with details when you're in the fashionmaker. That's what I do.

Are you just having trouble envisioning what a swinging skirt should look like? If so, maybe there are pictures or videos on the Internet you can look at for reference, or you can do your own mini photo shoot with someone you know. Take your camera and go shopping with a girlfriend, try on lots of dresses and take pics of each other twirling in them. I haven't done it, but it sounds like fun! :)

Hope that helps you. Let me know if there's anything else I can help with!

Must be another DUC bug. I know some members have had trouble seeing videos on their pages during the day if they last watched videos late during the night. But that's all I know. I'd try clearing your cache, then logging off and on again afterward. You received no response from DUC? Not even an automated message? Wow. Well if clearing your cache and logging off and on doesn't work, I'd email them again until you at least receive the automated message, then reply to the message after a few days if the problem doesn't resolve itself. Hope that helps! I'm not a computer tech person, so that's all I can think of.

  88. Tracy, someone was asking on chat earlier what the "wheel trick" was to get lots of points. I replied about 'refreshing' the page if you saw you would land on a small number. Someone else told about the clicking yes multiple times to wrack up the numbers, but I had heard that DUC discouraged this because it threw their system off kelter and caused problems for the members. Had you heard this? I haven't done it myself, so I don't know.

  89. Two things, Tracy..one a suggestion, the other a little announcement for DUC girls.
#1 you might want to consider shortening up your comment list to a month or two at most so we don't have to sort thru months and months to see the latest comments. That might even encourage more commenting here and now.
#2 I'm having a Poetry Day for the chat page for all the divas on Fri. November 11th. that's 11-11-11. They can bring their own personal poetry that they've written, or just poetry that they love. Keeping in mind, of course, that we have an 800 character limit on the chat page, they may want to write the pice out on their PC's word processor first and then do a character count on it(I think in most cases that tool is under "Tools". They can then divide up the poem into a post and a couple replies. If you could announce this on your blog, I'd love it. Thank you, Tracy.

Yes, I have heard of the wheel trick causing various problems for members using it. I have no personal knowledge if this is true or not. Awhile ago I made a new note of that on my section concerning the wheel trick here on the blog, just to warn people in case it's true. I wish the DUC staff would make an announcement either verifying or denouncing the truth of it. Sadly, we don't hear anything from them lately.

Thank you for your suggestion about shortening up the comments! I'm thinking of somehow archiving these comments and starting a new comments post...still figuring out how I'll go about it.

It's from her designs section. I hope it's okay to post this. I don't want to cause any bad feelings or charges that I want to copy. I don't all I want to know is how did she get such a straight line. It's amazing!

  92. Arabella-arabesque:

Thanks for the link! I think it's okay to post it since you're just looking to figure out the technique used, not copy her design.

Taking a close look at it (what a lovely design!), I'm pretty sure she used the greek key graphic (the box/maze looking graphic) and possibly the circle graphic as filler. I think there's color overlapping of the greek key graphics used, as not all the squares are the same size (zoom in 200% and you'll see what I mean). You'll also notice that not all the squares are aligned perfectly, so those are possible clues to the technique used. It would take some experimentation to exactly figure out which ways to layer the graphics for the best checkerboard results. If you experiment and figure it out, please let me know! I'll probably try experimenting eventually, but first I'll plan on asking FancyMeNY herself to see if she's willing to fill us in on how she executed such a great checkerboard pattern. That diva has skill, doesn't she?!

I'll let you know if/when I figure it out completely or get help from FancyMeNY.

  93. Tracy I attempted to do the checkerboard and it is perplexing but here is my 1st try.

What I did was use the greek key ( I did a large one for first time ) and after filling in the black squares I used the - - - detail in white when filling in the white squares in the middle section of the blouse only. Then I used - - - detail in black to create a straight line for the dark red. Hope to get better and would like to know if there is a better technique. Thanks :)

  94. Ah! Found the post box at last! LOL
Ok...I have posted on DUC's chat to you concerning the prospect of having our own DUC discussion board now that their FB board has been dismantled. We never seem to be on at the same time. ;oD
ANYway, I always liked discussion boards IF people would be active in them, but the past few months DUC's FB board was getting rather stagnent. Not much in the way of posts except this old chatterbox. ;oD So my concern is that there may not be much here either. My question would be...would we have to 'join' this blog site to be able to start a thread--or even join one in progress? And if it was started, would people even find it? Tho' you do post these links regularly, it almost becomes invisible after a while. Hate to say that, but it happens sometimes. So to be honest, unless the discussion board was actually a feature on DUC(which I feel they won't spring for) it may be a futile endevour. If it wasn't that hard to set it up tho'...and you would like to see how it goes, then go for it. I would try to join in for sure.

  95. arabella-arabesque:

Great job on your first attempt! I haven't yet played with making a checkerboard pattern, my health issues have been acting up and haven't been able to design much at all. But I talked to FancyMeNY and here is what she said about how to create one:

"There are several methods that are often used. One is the heart and it's overlaying the heart in alternative colors side by side and working your way up. Then there is the greek graphics, using alternative colors, but working your way down. Here's sample of something I did, but have not yet made an MO with it...http://www.dressupchallenge.com/makeovers/fancymeny/assets/p3-1 ...hope this helps."

Let me know if you try out her methods and what your results were? Thanks, diva!

Thanks for your thoughts on whether or not I should post a discussion board on this blog! You have similar thoughts/concerns to me.

As for having to make a google account to post, the answer is no. But you would have to make a username and password on the discussion board itself...see, I'd be simply embedding a discussion board I create on a free discussion board creation site into a page on my blog here...so you'd have to actually create an account for the discussion board itself. You'd simply need a username and password, nothing else, and you wouldn't have to give out any information to do so. You'd be able to create one here from a page on my blog, you wouldn't have to go anywhere else to do it (at least that's my understanding). Does that make sense?

Still not sure whether or not I will create a discussion board here. Maybe when I'm feeling better...health has been really rough lately.
