  1. DUC has the top players of the week. How are they able to get so many point without the spin game?
You are allowed 2000 kudos per week.
    Thanks Tracy

    ReplyDelete
  2. Anonymous:

Yes, you have a set amount of kudos you can give out, but no limit on how many you can receive. So if people are receiving a lot of kudos from others, that's one way to rack up points. You also receive points every time you "do a makeover when you enter a challenge, receive votes in a challenge, receive an award in a challenge, reach the finals of a challenge, vote in a challenge, leave a comment on another member’s page, and create a makeover"(DressUp Challenge Help page). For instance, MargieGirl is in the top players of the week list this week. She won the last challenge, and that is 5,000 points right there. She obviously received a lot of votes in both rounds of the challenge, so there's more points. Then she was probably given a lot of kudos on her entry. Add that all up with her own voting and participating in other point-gathering activities, and that's why she's been able to accumulate so many points this week.

Hope that clears things up for you! I wouldn't worry about the points and ranking system on DUC. Pardon the pun, but it's really "pointless," in my opinion. The real mark of how well you are doing on DUC is how much you enjoy it. That's my opinion, anyway.

    Have a great day!

  4. Hi Tracy,
I wanted to know if there is a way to sort clothing in storage and the closet. when you start the makeover game and go to clothing, the instruction says to click the view menu to choose how you'd like your items sorted clothing. What is the view menu?
    Thanks Tracy..

    1. Anonymous:

I'm not exactly sure what you are referring to as the "view" menu. Maybe you can help clarify this for me. When you see it, are you viewing the storage/closet section of your page, or are you in the Makeover Creator game? As far as I know, there is no way to sort items while in the Makeover Creator. However, when you go into your closet or storage from your main page, you can FIND items there by "sorting" them using the dropdown boxes. Please clarify what you meant so I can try to help you further.

      :) tmck18

    2. Thank you for your response.. When you start the makeover game and click on clothing, an arrow with instructions points down on the 'top' box. When you click more 2x the instruction "click the 'view' menu to choose how you'd like your items sorted" appears.

      Delete
    3. Hmmm, that is really interesting! I found the message you are referring to, and I've never noticed that before. My only guess is that you've noticed a DUC glitch, as I've been playing this game since the beginning and never found a view menu. Perhaps the creators of the game meant to add that, but ended up not being able to, and then forgot to delete that message? It would be SO nice if it did exist. Creating makeovers would be so much faster if we could sort our items. I know it's been suggested to them by several people (including me) to add such a feature if they ever update the Makeover Creator.

If you ever contact DUC support (suppport@dressupchallenge.com) to ask them about the view menu, would you let me know how it turns out? I'm very intrigued as to what the story might be.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help!

  5. Hi, on some of the duc pages, the divas are able to hide their design so that you can't see the latest or the premier design. how are they able to do that?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Anonymous:

You can't hide designs, but when you enter a MAKEOVER in the current challenge, the makeover is hidden from view for everyone but yourself (you will still see it while others won't). It will be revealed to all once the voting round begins in the challenge, or if you switch your challenge entry to a different makeover (the new one then becomes hidden while the first one is revealed). Hope that helps!

      :) tmck18

    2. On some of the divas pages you are not able to see their premier design or their latest design under Fashion Designs. When you click on see 'more', the space below where you see the makeovers is empty

      Delete
    3. It sounds like those divas have simply deleted their designs after using them, and so they do not have any designs to show. Some divas do that to help prevent others from copying their designs.

Have you read my post on creating working links to makeovers? It's here: http://tinyurl.com/DucTips

Sounds like what you need help on is making the link "light up" so it will take you to the makeover when you click on it. Read the part about "Getting the link to light up." After reading that and trying it out, if you still have questions please feel free to come back and I'll try to help you figure it out.

If you read through this blog, you will find out how to do all those things. You'll especially find the posts "Placing Details off the Model (IE Glitch)" and "Creating Backgrounds" helpful. Use those tips to create anything you want off the model. I used those tips to create the ring of fire (created out of roses) and the "Titanic" lettering you referred to (created out of beads).

    5. Leeza:

Oh, that is a very well-known DUC bug! There's nothing you can do but wait for DUC support to fix it. A tip when dealing with DUC support: if they haven't gotten back to you or fixed your problem within a few days, email them again but through a REPLY, not a new email. If you reply to them enough, you'll eventually get a real person to work with you. I had this same problem for about two months, and just kept replying until I got a real person emailing me back.

In the meantime, you can design on another account (if you don't have a second account, you can always open one, you'll just need to have another valid email address). You can then do makeovers in your second account, and save the makeovers to your MAIN account! Really, it works. See the blog post "Saving Makeovers to a Second Account." This way, you can still design new clothes and enter challenges. The only bad thing about this is that your second account won't have all the accessories that your main account already has.

      Hope that helps!

    1. Have you read through all six steps in the blog post? If you haven't, please do, as you'll understand it better. Please read the second bullet under "Dresses" as well. The point of creating that makeover is to be able to make an accurate stencil/outline of the model's body. For transparent clothing, you need to "draw" the body on top of the clothing in the Fashionmaker...so if you already have a stencil of the body, it makes it easier to do so. Does that make sense?

      :) tmck18

    3. The blog post is called "Creating Sheer or Transparent Clothing." It's probably the 14th or 15th blog post. Just scroll down through the posts until you find it. It's right after the post called "Creating Different Textures." If you don't know how to get back to the home page of the blog where you can just scroll through the posts, just click on the title of the blog up at the top of the blog (the banner with the four makeover pictures surrounding the words "Fashionmaker Guide Blog by tmck18"}, or click on "Home" under "Pages" at the top right of the blog.

I filled up the form n everything n they ask me to open my mail where they provided me with their own password.i did n it automatically opened my DUC account. but there is another option that says this is a one time login n it will expire on so n so date.i pressed the box that says"login" n it asks for a password. now shud i enter the password that they provided for me on my mail or i shud give my own password.??secondly if its a one time login then wat happens wen the account expires. m confused. plz help.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The one time login just means that the link will expire after one use. It does not mean your account expires. Using the "one time login" link just lets you bypass having to type in the password they gave you for the first time you log in to your account.

If you don't want to use the "one time login" link, just use the password they gave you to log in. After you are logged in, you can change the password to whatever you want under "Edit Account" which is in small red letters near the top of the page (in the middle next to "Find Members").

Hope that helps! Welcome to DUC.

    1. You haven't been on DUC for awhile I'm guessing? The spin game was taken away quite awhile ago and now we just get daily gifts (and they are old gifts, so if you already have that item, you won't get anything at all). So there is no spin game anymore. As for contacting the people who send daily gifts, it is just automated. You can contact DUC support at support@dressupchallenge.com. But nowadays, contacting support often doesn't help. They've pretty much thrown in the towel, in my opinion, as evidenced by the recent DUC newsletter in which we are told that DUC is moving to Lifetime Games...it won't be it's own site anymore. :( But emailing is worth a shot at least!

  23. TMCK, I love all your designs and al..but I was wondering if ou had a tutorial on how to crate various beards?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Hi Ginger:

Thanks for stopping by! Actually, I wrote this blog to teach everyone the tips and tricks to the FM, but not a step-by-step way of how to use them to create certain things. Let me give you an analogy...if we were speaking in a painter's terms, this blog is like giving you the brushes, the canvas, the paint, etc., and instructing you on how those items work and what they are for. But what I don't do is give you a step-by-step instruction on how to paint a particular scene. I leave the creation process up to you once you understand the tools of creation. So for creating beards, I explain the tools on creating those...how to place details off the model, and how to create a stencil of the model's head/face (so you can line up the beard), etc. But I don't give you step-by-step instructions on how to create different beards, because that takes the "creativity" out of your creations if I told you how. Does that make sense? I explain the artist's tools to you, but YOU are the one who has to use them for unique creation. YOU are the artist of your own designs, not me.

I hope what I wrote makes sense to you! Thanks again for stopping by, and feel welcome to continue to post comments and questions to me as you continue to visit my blog.

I mean I've tried to creat different looks but nothing comes out right! Have you ever thought about making video tutorials? On this site you're writing step by step exactly "what" to do, versus if you did video tutorials you could actually "show" myself and others exactly what to do. Just my thoughts. 29. Hi Tracy, hey girl, we want to hear from you over on DUC Divas United. We still do MOs(tho' not nearly as nice of ones)with the new Fashion Center spot. SO many have fled in frustratiion, and a lot of things are still left un"fixed". I don't know why--maybe the designer said, "Here people, you pay me more and maybe I'll fix it". IDK...it's frustrating because we never get 'newsletters' anymore, and if we send in a 'ticket' we get a one-sentence canne response. Sadly, I think we'll have to lump it. Most of all, I wish we had our color choices back the way it was before. SO many techniques we use to employ are now gone, as well as your lacy bra! boohoo!(not to mention a dozen other items we use to enjoy having. I think it was a hurried and botched job for sure. But some of us are making the best of it. PLEASE stop by the FB group account and say how you are, Hon.

  30. Checking back about 6 months from my last post, Tracy.
Today, March 19th--Ides of March. ;o) Hon, we are so concerned about you. We fear the worst, knowing how sick you've been. Please post something over on DUC Divas United on Facebook and let us know what's up.
    Hugs and Friendship,
