Zooming Tips in Fashionmaker

WORKING FAR OUTSIDE THE GARMENT WHEN ZOOMED IN IN THE FASHIONMAKER:
If you want to work far to the right or left, high past the collar or low past the hem of a garment while zoomed in, you’ll first need to place some details in the corners of the zoomed out Fashionmaker "room" so you can get to these places when zoomed in. Do this by using large bow details with the strands. Put four bows on the garment. To place two up high, pick up the bows by the very bottom of the strands, and place them as high and right/left as you can while still seeing them. Do the same for the bottom of the room, but pick up the bow by the top edge instead.
HOW TO ZOOM IN FURTHER THAN THE "ZOOM IN" BUTTON ALLOWS:

NOTE: This is very useful when you are working with small details as you can see them better for proper placement.

ZOOM IN (two ways):
* While holding down the "Ctrl" button, click the "+" button. The more you click the "+" button, the larger your screen shot will become.
OR...
* If you have a mouse with a wheel that allows you to scroll up and down, hold down the "Ctrl" button while you move the wheel forward (away from you). The more you move the wheel forward, the larger your screen shot will become.

ZOOM OUT:

* Use the same techniques as before, but use the "-" button instead of the "+," or scroll the wheel backward (toward you) instead of forward.

* If you want to quickly get back to a "regular-sized" screen, just hold down "Ctrl" and click "0." (That's zero, not the letter O).

  1. This is what I had a question on. For me, this doesn't work. I don't think I'm doing it wrong, but maybe I am. Help!

Hmmm....are you holding down the control key while you're pressing the plus or minus keys? If not, that's what you need to do. If you are, then I don't know what the problem is. But there's another way you can zoom in and out. If you're using Internet Explorer, look at the bottom right of the browser. There should be a zoom in sign right next to where it says "100%." Then there is a little arrow button to the right of "100%." Click the arrow and a little box will pop up. In the box, you can either click on "Zoom in" or "Zoom out" depending on what you want to do, or there are some numerical percentages that you can choose, or you can click on "Custom" to choose the specific percentage you want the screen to zoom to.

Hope that helps! Let me know how it goes?

A browser is what you are using right now to access the Internet on your computer(such as Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, or Google Chrome, etc). Whatever you opened to come on the Internet...that is your browser. So if you are using the Internet Explorer browser, look at the bottom right of your screen (inside the browser's window) and follow the instructions I gave you.

I'm sorry it's not working for you. I'm guessing it is caused by a miscommunication between you and me. Perhaps somebody in your real life can help you with your zooming issues in person. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

  7. Tracy, I've been able to get by with the FM zoom pretty well sofar. But a question:
When we do your technique like this, is it possible to make the details even smaller yet? Or are they essentially the same in the end anyway? There are times when I'd love to make a dot REALLY tiny, tinier than the FM zoom even allows.

  8. Hi Karen!

I know what you mean, I'd love to make a detail even tinier than what the FM zoom allows. Sadly though, even if you use the technique above to zoom in further, you can't get the details any smaller. Zooming in further is just easier on the eyes, and allows you to place details more precisely (and you know me, I'm all about preciseness!). Maybe if they ever DO come out with a new Fashionmaker, maybe they'll give us more size options. Probably not, but it's okay to dream, right? ;)

  9. Yes, we have our dreams.
Let's just home they aren't moving away from us, month by month getting us ready for a shutdown.
*ooooo, I didn't say that out loud, did I???*
But thanks for the answer. Yes, I will try this for better percision.

Yes, I'm very worried about that too! I'm hoping and praying it doesn't come to that. Don't know what I'd do without my DUC!

    You're welcome for the answer.
